Site Civil Design:
Intermodal Transit Facility Design for the City of Washington: Sci-tek provided design services associated with the construction of an intermodal transit facility. The scope of work included a topographic survey and stormwater, erosion and sedimentation, and grading plans and specifications.
Park and Ride Facility Design for Port Authority of Allegheny County: Sci-Tek Principal Engineer, Gary Van Balen, P.E., managed the design of a 1,000 space Park and Ride facility which involved a tight schedule, many stakeholders, and complex lighting and landscaping requirements. Separate Municipal and Port Authority reviews were handled in parallel to accommodate the project schedule.
Engineering Services for PennDOT: Senior Civil Engineer, Kevin Clark, P.E., has provided line and grade studies, hydraulic and hydrologic reports, stormwater management plans, erosion and sedimentation control plans and narratives, highway capacity analyses, traffic control plans and final design plans for the following projects:
- Mon Valley Expressway, Washington County, PA
- Uniontown Bypass, Southern Extension, Fayette County, PA
- Beaver Valley Expressway, Beaver County, PA and
- Over 40 Bridge Replacement Projects, Statewide
Port Authority of Allegheny County, Eastern Corridor Transportation Study: NEPA Environmental Assessment as part of a study to evaluate various modes of transportation to service Eastern Allegheny County.
Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission: Environmental assessments in support of renovation of four rest stops, and also for renovations to the PTC Data Center in Harrisburg.
PennDOT: Environmental assessments associated with renovations to the Bettis and Hutchinson Hill bridges in Allegheny County.
Sci-Tek Principal Engineer, Gary Van Balen, P.E.’s record of successfully completed projects include:
City of Pittsburgh, North Shore Infrastructure Improvement Project: Bridge design for a 145-foot span, multi-lane bridge located in front of Heinz Field adjacent to the Allegheny River.
Allegheny County: Foundation studies and designs for numerous bridges within Allegheny County, including subsurface investigations, field and laboratory testing, field instrumentation, and report preparation.
Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission:Cost-effective maintenance and repair-related engineering designs for the Turnpike mainline, which involved geotechnical, site civil, and limited highway engineering for maintenance facilities, embankment slopes, shoulders, guiderails and signage.
